This is not a good place, but I can do it. Sure, I could just call the Argonatus…no. I don't want help. I must make it on my own.
Come on Jason, you have faced worse.

jason
story

“Quickly the king saw him and pondered, and devised for him the toil of a troublous
voyage, in order that on the sea or among strangers he might lose his home-return.
The ship, as former bards relate, Argus wrought by the guidance of Athena”

This relates a former bard about the beginning of Jason's journey, sent away by his
traitorous uncle who feared he might one day regain his rightful throne.
And somehow he succeeded.

Jason did not have a happy life and made many wrong decisions.
He was strong, and proud, therefore unable to see how little he would have achieved
alone. Arrogance and ingratitude condemned him, much more than his vile uncle could
ever have done.

Perhaps his true problem was simply that he returned. There are those made to travel, and
when they stay instead, they rot within and without. On his journey, Jason found friends,
enemies, liaisons, and even love. He hunted giants and harpies, sowed dragon's teeth, and
tamed untamable beasts.
As soon as he came back, he threw it all away.

I suppose this is why he broke out of the Nether. Tiredly, a flicker of hope pushes him
forward: perhaps if he moves toward a new journey, he shall find happiness again,
somehow.
This is, I suppose, what he wants to believe. I wish for him that, once again, he might find
peace in restlessness. Even if in Hell.

Life

Jason was the son of king Aeson, overthrown by his half-brother Pelias, and Aeson's wife,
Alcimede.
His mother, a clever woman, tricked Pelias into believing that her son had been stillborn
to prevent him from slaughtering him, as he had done with everyone who might have
claimed his usurped throne.

The baby was sent away, and he was raised by none other than the centaur Chiron, the
wisest and most just of all centaurs, who was renowned as a great teacher and as a shaper
of heroes.
Apparently, he taught Jason much, but could not manage to teach him wisdom.

Years later, Jason went back home, to Iolcus, where his treacherous uncle was holding
games in honor of his father, the god Poseidon. But Pelias recognized him based on the
words of an oracle, and devised his evil plan to free himself from his presence once and
for all.
He promised to give him back his throne if Jason brought back the Golden Fleece.

The fur of the magic golden ram hung on a tree of a faraway and dangerous island, was
protected by a dragon, and guarded by the king of those lands.
Only with the help of the other heroes who joined the crew – Heracles, Atalanta, and
Orpheus among them – was Jason able to reach the island alive.
Only with the help of Medea, the princess, could Jason survive the ordeal planned by the
king.

They took the Golden Fleece and traveled back. During that voyage, they met Circe, who
cleansed them from the sin of murdering Medea's brother.
They arrived, happy and in love.
Medea did everything Jason asked of her. Her love was wild and terrible as the ocean.
She killed Pelias for him without a second thought.
Pelias's son, Acastus, exiled them.

To obtain a political advantage, Jason decided to marry another woman. Medea's love
turned into hatred, just as wild and powerful as her love had been.
I shall not say what she did. Many have done it before, and such sins are better left alone.

After many years, Jason's son obtained his rightful throne. But his father...he died old and
alone. He was sleeping under the rotting stern of Argo, when it broke and fell down,
killing him on the spot.

Regalia

The Golden Fleece has followed him into the Nether, just like his spear, carved from the
same wood of which his beloved ship was made.
He brings nothing more, for he carries already a heavy load within.
