Oh, what a lovely place. It looks almost as dangerous as the forests of Sparta. Great to warm up after centuries of boredom.

Game lore

leonidas
story

“XERXES
Therefore, I tell you, Spartans, give up your arms and you will be spared.”

LEONIDAS
You want our arms? Then come and take them.”

Of all the souls now striving to win Lucifer's seat, one does not care about winning at all:
Leonidas, king of Sparta.
As any Spartan, he is here simply for the fight, for the honor of being in it, and the honor
of dying, if need be, in battle again.

The Nether was worse than Hell to him. A place so soft is repulsive to a Spartan,
something so peaceful is an insult to his very essence.
He felt himself enjoying that tranquility, and despised himself and that feeling even more
for it.
What does a Spartan, bred to fight, trained to kill, and indoctrinated to die spear in hand,
want with “tranquility”?
What should the king of Sparta make of it?
Hate it.

Leonidas' will to fight remained dormant for centuries, but the spark exploded into a
bonfire as soon as he crossed the borders of the Nether.
Now, he roams Hell looking for worthy opponents, and even the demons fear the new
red-crested scourge that plagues their lawless lands.

Life

Seventeenth of the Agiad line, which takes his name from Agis, a descendant of Heracles,
Leonidas has never been blessed with divine powers. Yes, perhaps his ancestry granted
him a body slightly better suited to feats of strength and battle, but the blood of Zeus had
been already diluted over and over again before he was born.

No, Leonidas was not born a hero. He became one.
He trained, suffered, pushed through, and trained more. He fought, risked, and killed to
become the deadly soldier he is.
His life shows us the value of determination. His death inspires us to greatness.

When Xerxes, king of Persia, brought his earth-shaking army to Greece, three hundred
men stood against a hundred thousand and more. For days, they withstood the assault like
the cliff withstand the wave, a single unbreakable unit against an ocean of soldiers.
They lost, in the end. But their sacrifice won precious time, and Xerxes was defeated
thanks to their heroic resistance.
It was Leonidas to guide these men into battle, till death.

Regalia

The shield that clashed against so many swords and broke so many skulls, the spear that
wounded and killed hundreds of Persians, the helm that became a terrifying vision in their
dreams, the red cloak symbol of Sparta; those are the things that followed Leonidas even
after death.

They had no magic of their own. Blood and fear gave them power. And what was
achieved through blood and fear is not to be taken lightly, especially in Hell.
